  • So much to do...

I have tests to grade for English 1, essays to grade for Honors English 3, NCA materials to study, and reading to do...but I'm watching "Pushing Daisies" on DVD and surfing the Internet.

Must find motivation now...ooh, or dessert.

  • First full week=success!

The first full week of school is over!  We made it through our first assignments and back to school night.  I think this is going to be a good year.  I only have a few little brats, and I think I'll be able to whip them into shape quickly...that or send them to the office in the next week and let the admins handle them.

On another note, I started the year with a class of 18 freshmen boys and one girl.  I was waiting for the girl to come tell me she couldn't take it anymore.  That happened yesterday (when I also got one more boy).  So I took her down to the counselor and got her schedule changed, so now I have a class of 19 freshmen boys.  Awesome...not.  Although I wonder if this will help with behavior issues...no girls to show off for?

Today Aidan and I are going to the grocery store, Costco (with some dear friends), and Target.  We are going to get little man an exersaucer to play with now that he's becoming more mobile.  And of course, laundry, dishes, and cleaning need to be done.

  • I'm learning what it is to be a working mama.  It's busy!

Last night I was in bed by 9:30.  Would have been earlier, but John got a fondue pot and wanted to make me fondue, so I had to wait for that to be ready.  Ever since we went to the Melting Pot a month ago for our anniversary he has wanted to make this for me.

Today, I was up at 6:00 with little man, and then we dozed until about 8.  Since then I've cleaned the house (dishes, dusting, cleaning kitchen, floors-sweep & mop), worked on laundry, and gone grocery shopping.  I need to finish the laundry and start making dinner in a few hours.  I also have been reading The Kite Runner and I am going to try to finish it today/tonight.  Then I think I want to re-read the 7th Harry Potter book for fun. :)

Tomorrow, I have summer reading journals to grade, a 25 minute tape to preview for English 1 on Monday, and review/prep work to do for English 1.  Since I've never taught it before, I don't know what I'm doing as well as I do with English 3.

My aunts were supposed to come over today to see Aidan since they have not seen him (and he is 15 weeks old).  I think they forgot.  I am not going to call them.  When they remember and call with some lame excuse, I might just tell them to forget it and go back to pretending that my brother and I don't exist anymore.  Ever since our dad died (7 years ago), they kind of pretend we don't exist.  It sucked at first, but now we are used to it.  So when they do call and want to get together, we don't always believe that it will happen.  They canceled on me last week, and were supposed to call today and come over between 2:30 and 3:00.  It's now 3:30 and they haven't called.  Oh well.

Aidan rolled over for the first time last night.  I was such a proud mama.  Now every time I lay him down he rolls over.   He can only go back to front, and then he gets pissed because he can't roll back over onto his back. See pics below. :)

Starting to Roll Almost there I did it!

  • First Day! :)

Today was our first day with students.  Only the freshmen were there, 10-12 start tomorrow.  I have two classes of freshmen, so a lot of my day was prep, etc.  I really enjoyed my classes...some of them are such tiny little ones!

Anyway, I can't believe we're back to school and I already have school prep to do at home.  I don't know how those teachers who take nothing home get anything done.  I use my plan well, but I still feel like I have to take stuff home to get prepared.

Not much else to say.  Waiting for the baby to wake up so I can feed him and give him his bath.  He's been asleep for two hours, so it should be soon.

Well, back to work until he wakes up and the whole process of changing, feeding, playing, and cuddling starts over again.  Man I love him.

  • I never write :(

I never write here.  I want to, but I always just have time to check in on everyone else and see what all the other teachers are up to and then I have to go get something done.  But that is not good for me.  I need to write for myself.

Well, what's new?  Aidan is three months old now (actually 14 weeks yesterday).  He is growing and growing and does new and funny things every day.  The other day he discovered his feet and now enjoys grabbing them and watching them as he moves them around.  Right now he's sitting in his bouncy chair making sounds and kicking his feet.

I went back to work on Friday.  The kids start this coming Thursday.  It's so early.  Aidan is spending the days that John works with his grandparents.  He did this on Friday and I think everyone enjoyed themselves.

I am teaching freshmen and juniors this year.  I am excited about the new class.  It will be nice not to do the same thing over five times and have a little more variety.  Although I know it will be more work.  I am also planning on using my website more and trying to use more technology.  I'm hoping this will make me more appealing to other districts next year when I am looking for a new job.

Speaking of new jobs, I have applied for an online teaching position with KC Distance Learning.  I have a second interview (over the phone) on Tuesday afternoon.  I hope that I get this job because we could really use the extra money.  Babies are expensive!  Giving up my coaching duties has really meant a pay cut, so I need to try to make that up.  I finished my 2nd MA, so I will be getting a raise there, but every little bit helps. :)

Hmm...not much else is new.  We are thinking about painting our house.  I would like to get siding, but John says no.  He will be the one doing the work, so whatever.

Well, I guess I should go finish some laundry and do some school stuff.  I will try to write more, but I do enjoy catching up with all you guys and seeing what's going on with you.
